Personally Identifiable Information.

You can visit our website without sharing personally identifiable information, but you will be required to provide personally identifiable information in order to sign up for an account on the Platform and to use the Platform. We will collect any personally identifiable information from or about you that you choose to submit to us, which may include your name, email address, physical address, zip code, telephone number, birthdate, and financial information. Specifically, we collect your personally identifiable information when you create an account on the Platform, when you populate your student or instructor profile, when you search for instructors and tutoring services using the Platform, when you pay for tutoring services, when you sign up as an instructor, in receiving and fulfilling information requests, when you provide User-Generated Content (as discussed below), and when you respond to communications from us (e.g., surveys).

If you provide your mobile or other telephone number to us, you consent to our sharing that telephone number with other Platform users as described below. We will use collected personally identifiable information as described below, including to set up your Platform account, to populate your Platform profile, to process your requests for tutoring sessions, and to provide you with information and communications that you request or that we believe are relevant or may be of interest to you, subject to applicable laws and the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Account and Profile Information.

To create an account on the Platform you will need to submit your first name, last name, email address, and telephone number. The information you submit when creating an account will be used to populate your profile within that account. You may populate your profile with other types of information that you choose to submit, for example, an “about me” narrative, your interests, and a profile photograph. To sign up as an instructor on the Platform, you will also need to submit your physical address, birthdate, and the last four digits of your social security number. As an instructor, you may further populate your profile with other types of information that you choose to submit, for example, your background, your teaching experience, tutoring session subjects and pricing, tutoring session location options, and your availability.

As a student, only instructors with whom the student has scheduled a tutoring session will be able to view your profile information, including your telephone number, but excluding your email address. As an instructor, with the exception of your email address, birthdate, physical address, the last four digits of your social security number, and your telephone number, all other profile information will be publicly available to all Platform users. Instructor telephone numbers will be provided to students that schedule tutoring sessions with that instructor.

Tutoring Session Information.

To search for available tutoring services using the Platform you will need to submit a geographic location (or allow us to access your location via your device’s location services settings) and identify the types of tutoring services you are interested in. In order to schedule a tutoring session using the Platform you will need to select an instructor, specify the date(s), time(s), and location(s) for the tutoring services, and price. As an instructor, you will be required to submit information on the tutoring services that you provide and the corresponding pricing, which information Company will use to populate the Platform.

Instructor and Student Ratings.

Upon the conclusion of a tutoring session both the student and the instructor will be required to rate the other’s performance. Ratings of instructors will be displayed as part of the instructor’s profile and ratings of students will be displayed as part of the student’s profile to instructors with whom the student has scheduled a tutoring session.

In-Platform Messaging.

As a student, the Platform will allow you to initiate chats with instructors from whom you have requested tutoring sessions and, as an instructor, you will be able to initiate chats with students who have requested tutoring sessions from you. If you use any chat feature on the Platform, we will collect, and we may link to your Platform account, all text and other information that you enter or submit using that feature. Please note that the content of your chats will not necessarily be maintained or treated as confidential.

Payment and Bank Account Information.

Purchases of tutoring services must be made by credit or debit card. All credit and debit card information is provided directly to Stripe, our PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. Company does not directly access, handle, or store your credit or debit card information. To schedule a tutoring session or to make a payment you will need to submit your name and your credit or debit card number, expiration date, security code, and zip code. Payment by credit or debit card is subject to the approval of the card issuer. We will not be liable in any way if a card issuer refuses to accept a credit or debit card for any reason. We will maintain a record of the payments that you make using the Platform. If you sign up as an instructor you will need to submit your bank account number and routing number in order to enable payment for the tutoring services that you provide through the Platform. Stripe may use your payment and bank account information in accordance with Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

User-Generated Content.

The Platform allows you to create, post, transmit, upload, publish, distribute, broadcast, submit, or otherwise provide comments, data, text, images, video, audio, and other content and material via the Platform, including by creating a student or instructor profile (together, “User-Generated Content”), for example, by populating your Platform profile as discussed above. You are responsible for all User-Generated Content that you provide using the Platform. User-Generated Content that you provide is posted on the Platform at your own risk. We cannot guarantee that submitted User-Generated Content will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. You understand that, even after removal, copies of User-Generated Content that you have submitted may remain viewable in cached and archived pages and may have been copied or stored by Internet archives and other Platform users. For more information on submitting User-Generated Content, please review our Terms of Service. Company may use and disclose User-Generated Content as described in the Terms of Service.

Other Information We Collect

  • Account activity
  • Data collected by the servers used to operate the Platform (e.g., IP addresses)
  • Location information
  • Data collected by cookies
  • Data collected by analytics and advertising services
  • Data collected by social media platforms

Account Activity.

If you use the Platform while signed into your Company account, we will collect information on how you use your account and the Platform, for example, the types tutoring services you search for, the number of hours you have spent providing tutoring services to Platform students, complete tutoring session details (including, for example, locations, prices, dates, times, subject matter, and ratings), and the number of hours you have spent receiving or providing instructional services via the Platform.

IP Addresses and Related Data.

The servers used to operate and provide the Platform may collect data pertaining to you and the equipment, software, and communication methods you use to access the Internet and the Platform, including Internet protocol (“IP”) addresses assigned to the computers and other devices from where you access the Internet, your Internet service provider (ISP), your device ID number, your approximate geographic location, your browser type, the pages you access on the Platform, the websites you access before and after visiting the Platform, the length of time you spend on the Platform, date and time stamps, and clickstream data. Company may use this information to administer the Platform and its servers, to generate statistical information, to monitor and analyze Platform traffic and usage patterns, to monitor and prevent fraud, to investigate complaints and violations of our policies, and to improve the Platform’s content and the products, services, materials, and other content that we describe or make available through the Platform. We may combine this information with personally identifiable information, other Collected Information, and information obtained from third parties for security reasons. The suppliers that we use to provide the Platform may collect information about your visits to the Platform and other websites.

Location Information.

In addition to the approximate geographic location information collected as discussed above, we may, with your consent, access more specific location information in order to enhance the user experience and increase the usefulness of the Platform. This includes both geographical location information that you input using the Platform (e.g., when you enter your zip code or physical address) and geographical location information collected by device-based location services (including GPS data). You may choose to allow us to access your location by granting the Platform access to your location when prompted or through your device’s location services settings. Company also uses the Google Maps/Google Earth API(s). Pursuant to the Google Maps/Google Earth APIs Terms of Service, use of this location feature is also subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. For information on how Google categorizes location information, please visit Types of location data used by Google. Both the Google Maps/Google Earth APIs Terms of Service and Google’s Privacy Policy are incorporated into these Terms by this reference.

Cookies.

The Platform automatically uses cookies to track Platform use and to facilitate and enhance the user experience on the Platform, as well as for other uses as described below. “Cookies” are small pieces of information that are stored on your device’s hard drive by your browser. The Platform may use both cookies that we implement and cookies implemented by our suppliers and other third parties. We use cookies to track how you access and use the Platform, to learn when and how users visit the Platform, to learn how popular Platform pages are and aren’t, to learn which search terms are used to find the Platform, and to learn which websites direct you to the Platform. We also use cookies to help display certain information on the Platform and to improve your enjoyment of the Platform, for example, by remembering your contact and other information when you access or use the Platform. Most browsers automatically accept cookies. You can disable this function, but disabling cookies may impact your use and enjoyment of the Platform. Our Platform suppliers may use cookies and other tracking technologies, such as pixel tags, to track Platform visitors across the Internet to understand how you get to the Platform. Due to this automatic collection of data using cookies, we do not honor “do not track” requests.

Google Analytics.

The Platform uses Google Analytics, an analytics tool provided by Google Inc., to collect and process data about your use of the Platform, including when you visit the Platform, URLs of the websites that you visit prior to visiting the Platform and when you visit those websites, and IP addresses assigned to the devices from where you access the Internet. Google sets and reads cookies to collect this data and your web browser will automatically send data collected by those cookies to Google. Google uses this data to provide us with reports that we will use to improve the Platform’s structure and content. For more information on how Google uses this data, visit Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s page on How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps. To prevent this data from being used by Google Analytics, follow the instructions to download and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for each web browser you use. Using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on will not prevent Company from using other analytics tools and will not prevent data from being sent to the Platform itself or to Google. You may disable cookies as discussed above, but that may impact your use and enjoyment of the Platform.

Facebook Pixel.

The Platform uses Facebook Pixel, an analytics tool provided by Facebook Inc., to collect and process data about your use of the Platform, including when you visit the Platform, URLs of the websites that you visit prior to visiting the Platform and when you visit those websites, and IP addresses assigned to the devices from where you access the Internet. Facebook sets and reads cookies to collect this data and your web browser will automatically send data collected by those cookies to Facebook. Facebook uses this data to provide us with reports that we will use to improve the Platform’s structure and content. For more information on how Facebook uses this data and data from its partners' sites or apps, visit Facebooks’s Privacy Policy. For certain controls over how this data is used, go to your personal facebook page "Ads" section. You may disable cookies as discussed above, but that may impact your use and enjoyment of the Platform.

Advertising Networks, Personalized Advertising, Remarketing, and Retargeting.

From time to time the Platform may participate in or use advertising networks and related advertising services that are managed and provided by third-party advertising servers, advertising agencies, technology vendors, and research firms. These services collect anonymous information about your visits to and interactions with the Platform and other websites and will use that information to target advertisements for goods and services. These targeted advertisements may appear on the Platform or on other websites. Advertising networks often gather data about consumers who view advertisements to make inferences about a consumer’s interests and preferences, which enables their computers to deliver advertisements targeted directly to the consumer’s specific interests. This practice is often referred to as “online behavioral advertising.” For example, a third-party advertising network might collect information on the type of Internet browser you use, the type of computer operating system you use, the domain name of a website you visit, whether or not you visit specific pages of the Platform or other websites, the location of your Internet service provider, the date and time of a visit to a website, and other interactions between you and websites.

We may also enable and implement the following Google Analytics Advertising Features: Remarketing with Google Analytics, Demographics and Interest Reporting, Segments, DoubleClick Campaign Manager Integration, and DoubleClick Bid Manager Integration. Remarketing with Analytics uses Google Analytics cookies to serve advertisements to you across the Internet based on your visit to the Site. Demographics and Interest Reporting uses a third-party cookie to collect information about our Site traffic by tracking users across websites and across time, which generates a report for us to better understand our Site users. Segments allows us to isolate and analyze subsets of Site users by sorting our Google Analytics data. DoubleClick Campaign Manager Integration and DoubleClick Bid Manager Integration allow us to view, analyze, and create remarketing lists using our DoubleClick Campaign data. To opt out of remarketing advertising provided through Google, to customize your ad preferences, or to limit Google’s collection or use this information, visit Google’s Safety Center and Google’s Ad Settings and follow Google’s personalized ad opt-out instructions. Opting out will not affect your use of the Site.

We may also enable and implement Facebook Pixel Advertising Features: Remarketing, Demographics and Interest Reporting, and other similar features. Remarketing with Pixel uses Facebook cookies to serve advertisements to you on Facebook and Instagram based on your visit to the Site. Demographics and Interest Reporting uses a third-party cookie to collect information about our Site traffic by tracking users across websites and across time, which generates a report for us to better understand our Site users.

To change your preferences with respect to certain online ads and to obtain more information about third-party ad networks and online behavioral advertising, please visit the National Advertising Initiative Consumer opt-out page or the Digital Advertising Alliance Self-Regulatory Program. Please remember that changing your settings with individual browsers or ad networks will not necessarily carry over to other browsers or ad networks. As a result, depending on the opt-outs you request, you may still see our ads from time to time.

Social Media.

The Platform may allow you to connect to and share information with various social media platforms, for example, Facebook and Google+. These features may require us to implement cookies, plug-ins, and application protocol interfaces (APIs) provided by those social media platforms to facilitate those communications and features. We may share information that you provide us or that we may collect about your use of the Platform with those platforms and that information will be subject to their privacy policies. We encourage you to review Facebook’s Data Policy and Google’s Privacy Policy. In addition, by choosing to use any third-party social media platform or choosing to share content or communications with any social media platform, you allow us to share information with the designated social media platform. We cannot control any policies or terms of such third party platform. As a result, we cannot be responsible for any use of your information or content by a third party platform, which you use at your own risk.

The Platform may also use the advertising services and networks offered by those social media platforms to deliver advertising content. Use of these services requires social media platforms to implement cookies or pixel tags to deliver ads to you while you are logged into the platform.

If you do not wish a social media platform to collect information relating to you via the Platform, we suggest that you: (a) do not connect to or share information with that social media platform using the Platform; (b) hide social media platform plug-ins using an ad blocker; (c) always log off completely from the social media platform before visiting other websites and delete all related cookies; and, (d) where the option made available by the social media platform, disable the advertising services and networks operated by that platform.
